At St Stephen’s C of E Primary School, we aim to develop pupils’ curiosity, enjoyment, skills and a growing understanding of Scientific knowledge, through an approach in which pupils raise questions and investigate the world in which they live.  Such learning is achieved by children asking questions related to their real world and gaining answers through a mixture of first-hand experience, research and teaching.

From the earliest of years, children should learn to observe, form ideas and test these through experiments and then learn to record their findings in a variety of ways. Recent extra-curricular trips have included Year 1 visiting Kentish Town City Farm, Year 2 pond dipping and mini-beast hunting at Holland Park Ecology Centre and Year 5 exploring space at The Greenwich Observatory
