Library News: Hone Books Galore & Tales of Christmas!

It was a pleasure to meet Meron  from Hone Books Galore in Shepherds Bush Market last weekend. She has opened her new stall half way down the strip of Shepherds Bush Market. Inspired by her own children’s love of reading she has set up a bookshop where children can donate books that they have read and buy a new one for 50p. She is also running a competition at the moment. She would like children to draw a picture of the first thing that they think of when they open a book on A3 paper. Entries can be taken directly to Meron in Shepherds Bush Market or to school and I will pass them on (l.pereira@ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk)

In other news………Christmas comes early in the Library this week. We have so many wonderful festive stories that it only seems right to allow as much time as possible for the children to read them. The Christmas stories have been put on display for the children to borrow so they may appear in your child’s bag this week. Children will also hear some of our festive favourites read aloud during library sessions. My all time favourite is Christmas on Exeter Street by Diana Hendry – in this story so many unexpected guests turn up on Christmas Eve that aunties must sleep on the mantle piece, cousins sleep in the bathtub and baby Lily-Lou sleeps in the sink! Needless to say it all worked out in the end and the enormous family had the best Christmas ever!

Here is the story line-up for this week…..
