International Women’s Day

As I am sure you are aware, Sunday was International Women’s Day. At Stephen’s, we chose to celebrate by shining the spotlight on the many fantastic female writers and illustrators that inspire us every day. On Monday, Louisa Young, who is the author of a range of books as well as the Lion Boy series came in to take our assembly. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged in her work and I am sure many will remember this for a long time.
Year Five and Six welcomed the wonderful Nina Chakrabarti who is an illustrator of fantastic collections of nature, fashion, furniture, vases, people – the list is endless and you will recognise her work on the front of Cowshed toiletries. The pupils were enraptured as they explored her work, found out about her inspiration and learned how she got started.
What a wonderful way to end International Women’s Day and a superb way to inspire all our pupils.
