A Friday Night Round Up from Mr Schumm

A quick round up before we start half term!

What started as a rather chilly week has ended with the sun shining and just in time for half term. We have had a fantastic start to the autumn term packed with so many events, trips and learning and we love having our new Reception and Nursery classes with us.

A massive thank you to the Year 1 and 2 teachers for their informative Maths evenings this week, which were filled with lots of information about how we teach Maths and useful hints. Thank you to all those parents who joined us.

Black Voice Week

This week has seen the whole school learning about inspirational Black British women, which has been amazing. Year 5 and 6 enjoyed Creole language workshops, while the rest of the school enjoyed Anansi puppet workshops and this afternoon we all experienced a wonderful Anansi Puppet show! But I will stop there and let Mr Faith’s Black Voices Newsletter tell you more after half tem.

This morning we were awash with red as we all stood tall and showed Racism the Red Card in spectacular St Stephen’s fashion. Y6 Zephaniah Class led the way with their class assembly, sharing how to celebrate diversity and recognise achievement with their focus on leading black female figures. It was also an opportunity to celebrate our own diverse and talented community. The hall was filled with beautiful, strong voices as they shared their poems, songs and prayers, which filled us all with great pride.

Off to Birmingham

A group of boys from Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a fun day out at St Georges Park in Birmingham where the England team train. They enjoyed an exciting coaching session and toured the site – they may even have got a rather special t-shirt! They had a wonderful time and were perfectly well behaved.

Girls and Boys Football.

Our girls and boys football team took part in a tournament against other primary schools within the borough. Both teams played brilliantly but it was the girls who shot to stardom, this time, winning the tournament and beating St Augustine’s in the final. They will now go forward to represent the borough in other tournaments. Brilliant!

Year 1 at the BBC Park

Year 1 travelled to the BBC Park as part of their Science topic on seasons. They looked at leaves and thought about how the trees will change in the coming months. They had a lovely time and thank you to all those parents who helped out on the day.

Thank you all for your support to the school this first half term.

Have a great half term week.
