A Friday Night Round Up from Mr Schumm

Good afternoon,

What a better way to end the term than a superb Easter Service! The children really did raise the roof of the church with their singing. The choir (Archie what a voice!) and orchestra were phenomenal and so confident. The readings and prayers were uplifting and the church was filled with smiling faces.

The Auction

Thank you to all those parents who attended the auction last night. What a superb evening filled with laughter, good food, fine wines and an extraordinary amount of fundraising for your amazing children. I want to say a massive thank you to Linda for organising such a wonderful event and, of course, all the other members of FOSS who made the evening go with a swing! I am sure Linda will be in touch later but for now thank you because if we work together we make such a massive difference for our children’s lives. The Raffle

The Easter Egg Raffle has been drawn and hopefully your home may soon be filled with chocolate! Thank you for your kind donations of eggs and for buying the raffle tickets. The House Captains are delighted to announce that we have raised over £1000 for their chosen charities of Great Ormond Street and AHOY. Thank you!

Debating

We have had a triumphant week of debating. 12 year 5s spent a whole wonderful day hosted by South Hampstead Girls High School taking part in 4 debates each in classrooms scattered round the building. The children gathered in the school theatre to be told the motion, whether they were opposition or proposition and which classroom they were in, exciting! We took 4 of the FORTY FOUR teams who took part, won lots of debates and EVERYONE spoke very confidently and eloquently. One of our teams (Sapient Owls!) came overall SECOND and another of our teams (Sage Owls!) were tied WINNERS!

4 Year 6’s have been attending weekly debating sessions at Latymer School, hosted by sixth formers. This culminated on Tuesday evening in an annual ‘Grand Final’ competition against all the other schools participating. The children debated in three rounds and, with great style and skill, St Stephen’s WON this year’s trophy!

Have a superb Easter break and see you in two weeks for the summer term for all things St Stephen’s!
