A Friday Night Round Up from Mr Schumm

Good afternoon,

Hola – What a couple of weeks! Today was Hispanic Day and saw the children celebrating Hispanic countries of the world and a famous artist from that country. We had Mexican Folk dancers, a delicious lunch from Cookie and her team and a Mariachi Band later! The children looked amazing in their outfits and I couldn’t resist a spot of guitar playing in a pink shirt at the school gates this morning! Look out for a more detailed rundown of the day from Mrs Pereira.

The Family Supper

Last week, was our marvellous Family Supper and what an amazing array of food was on display to tickle our taste buds! I can honestly say I ate some of the finest world cuisines and returned home rather stuffed! Thank you for the superb food and great company. The Family Supper is a highlight of the school calendar and a wonderful way to meet parents and share food. The adventure playground was literally alive with happy children enjoying a run around in the twilight.

Harvest Festival

A massive thank you to all those parents/ carers who joined us for our Harvest Festival Service at St Stephen’s church. The singing was wonderful and nearly raised the roof of the church. Alastair’s talk went down a treat and the church was filled with your generous donations!

Eco Team on the Go!

As part of our healthy schools initiatives, the Eco Schools team has partnered with Olleco UK. This means that the new ‘Lunch Angels’ now manage the collection of any food waste from the dinner hall, so as what is collected can be turned in to fuel. How eco is that?!

And we Won!

Two Y3 footy teams travelled to their first ever fixture today at Sunningdale School. They had a fantastic time and both teams were brilliant! With the final set to go to penalties up popped Philip to slot in the winning (and only goal) of the match. Excellent!

Year 1 and Year 2 take to the Football Pitch!

Yr 1 and Yr 2 pupils enjoyed two fantastic fun filled sports mornings at @powerleagueUK, run by our Y6 Sports Captains. Lots of running around and playing games was had in preparation for taking part in the School Games Mini Marathon no less! Brilliant!

A Friendly with Wetherby

Year 5 boys took part in a friendly football match with Wetherby Prep. All teams scored lots of goals and had a great afternoon!

Black Voices Week

Yesterday, Mr Faith hosted an assembly to build anticipation for our upcoming Black Voices Week (beginning Monday 17th October). He has already sent out a parentmail with the slide show he used and he asks ‘please talk to your children about it if you can (and ask them about role that Sir Trevor McDonald has played in both my late father and I’s lives!).’The Oti Mabuse video referenced in the slideshow can be found here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07pd843/horrible-histories-top-5-black-history-month-with-oti-mabuse

Don’t forget to check out the school website to read the teacher’s class blogs and news and events for updates https://www.ststephensce.lbhf.sch.uk/ or follow us on Twitter at @StStephensLBHF

Have a lovely weekend and see you later for a slice of cake and the Mariachi Band in the school hall.
