Mr Schumm's Blog - Amarillo to Shepherd's Bush

Welcome back to the Summer term. I hope you all managed to have a restful break- - hard to believe we are now two weeks in. I en-joyed some sunshine by the sea at Hastings or Hackney by the Sea as it has become known!

I am thoroughly enjoying teaching Year 2 this term- I had forgotten just how rewarding it is and how I love having a class book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and using a full range of accents while two children are quietly undoing my shoelaces and commenting on how smooth my shoes are!

As many of you will be aware, Mrs Cooley died just before the end of the Spring term and her funeral was held during the Easter holidays. The day was a real celebration of her life and it was lovely to see so many members of staff, former colleagues and parents there.

Having spoken to Mr Cooley and their daughter Tracey, we would like to hold a very special tea party in the summer term on Tuesday 18th June in the afternoon , when the whole school can come together to remember Mrs Cooley and enjoy a lovely outdoor treat that I know she should would have loved. The tea party will also be open to parents and former students to attend.

As Mrs Cooley had a real love of listening to children read, we are proposing that we buy a bench, or even two, for the playground in commemoration of her and her time at St Stephen’s. For any parents who would like to make a donation to Mrs Cooley’s benches you can do this via parentmail.

I will email nearer the time with more details regarding ‘Mrs Cooley’s Superb Garden Party’. Mr Cooley has been working hard in the garden and it is beginning to positively bloom.

It's hard to believe that in only a few weeks myself and the 'boy wonder' will be climbing Snowdon.

We have set up a Just giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mrschummandalastair if you would like to sponsor us - it would be very much appreciated.

Please check out our page, if only for the suits and matching Liberty bags - you're intrigued now so a sneaky peak and a donation would be marvellous.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday and see you on Tuesday.
